=========
1700M - approx. 55 minutes

Back in the water after a couple of weeks of on-and-off cold/throat infection/influenza. Nice to be back in the water again.

The sprints went well. All four were under 20 seconds, so I'm satisfied.

You're probably wondering - WTF is squid hypermiling?!

The trainer likes to bring out some new toys and tonight it was a sponge squid on a rope that you drag behind you to - you guessed it - increase drag. It was really noticible if my speed dropped and then I accelerated. The squid's arms then spread out and you felt a real jerk on the line. However if I kept a steady pace it was hardly noticable that I was dragging along a squid. A bit like keeping a steady speed with low reps in my car - hypermiling - with a squid!
