After a triumphant swim around Christiansborg!!! I'm back in the pool in Værløse.

Before my swim my Baby G would not awake from it's powersave mode - so I thought the poor little solar rechargeable battery had gone kaput! Now that I bought a fancy new Speedo swimsuit with orange trim while I was in London, there was no way I was going to swim without my matching orange watch, even if it wasn't working. Secretly I hoped that bringing it back into it's wet element would be like a babtism, bringing it back to life.

The swim went well - the pool was crowded when I arrived, but settled into a lane with 2 women close to my age (i.e. middle-aged ladies) They were swimming rather slowly, but when I got into the lane and started swimming, I noticed that the one swimming crawl started to pick up her pace, and wasn't too crazy about me passing her. Later she swam a lane of butterfly, so when we both stood to take a break, I complemented her on her swimming. Turns out she's American as well! :-)

Anyway when I got out of the water, I noticed that my watch was working again! Hurray!

Being back in the pool for the first time after the swim around Christiansborg, I can really understand why some people become openwater addicts. All of the turns were annoying, the chlorine was irritating, everything was so bright and so confined. Don't get me wrong, I had a great time, but I did sort of miss the blowing wind, the wide canals and the clean fresh chlorine free water, the long series of strokes and the everychanging scenery.
